How to build Reddit karma for OnlyFans promotion
You found the perfect subreddit for your content. You read the rules. You are ready to post. And then you see it: "Account must have 100 comment karma to post." Every new creator hits this wall. Here is how to build Reddit karma quickly and safely, without spam, so you can start promoting your page.
Why Reddit requires karma
Karma is Reddit's way of filtering out bots and spammers. When a subreddit requires a minimum amount of karma to post, they are trying to ensure that the people posting are real users who have contributed to the community, not automated accounts flooding the subreddit with links.
For OnlyFans creators, the karma requirement is frustrating because you are not a bot. You are a real person who wants to contribute. But the system does not know that yet. You have to prove it by building karma first. The good news is that it does not take as long as most people think. With the right approach, you can get enough karma to post in most NSFW subreddits within a week.
Where to start as a brand new account
When your account is brand new, you have zero karma and zero credibility. Most NSFW subreddits will auto-remove your posts. Do not try to post in them yet. Instead, start in subreddits that have no karma requirements and are friendly to new users.
Good places to start:
- r/AskReddit. The largest subreddit on the platform. Find a popular thread and leave a thoughtful or funny comment. If it gets upvoted, you can get 50-100 karma from a single comment.
- r/CasualConversation. A friendly subreddit for general discussion. Low barriers to entry and supportive community.
- r/FreeKarma4U and similar. Subreddits specifically for trading karma. Use these sparingly. Some NSFW subreddits check your karma sources and will ban you if they see you used karma farming subreddits.
- Hobby and interest subreddits. If you have any interests outside of OnlyFans, post in those subreddits. Pet photos, cooking, fitness, fashion, art, gaming. These are great places to build genuine karma that does not look suspicious.
- Comment on popular posts in large subreddits. Sort by "hot" or "rising" in subreddits like r/pics, r/funny, r/aww, r/mildlyinteresting. Leave genuine comments. One well-timed comment on a post that hits the front page can earn you hundreds of karma.
A strategy that works: Spend 15-20 minutes a day for 3-4 days commenting on popular posts in large subreddits. Focus on being funny, helpful, or insightful. Do not mention OnlyFans at all during this phase. Your only goal is to build 200-300 comment karma so you can start posting in NSFW subreddits.
The fastest way: comment karma
Comment karma is easier to build than post karma because you can leave multiple comments on popular posts and each one has a chance of getting upvoted. A single good comment on a post that goes viral can earn you more karma than weeks of posting your own content.
The key to comment karma is timing. Sort by "rising" in large subreddits and leave comments on posts that are gaining traction. Your comment will be seen by more people because the post is still climbing. Commenting on a post that is already at the top of "hot" means your comment will be buried.
What kind of comments get upvoted? In general subreddits, humor, helpfulness, and genuine insight get the most upvotes. In niche subreddits, specific knowledge gets upvoted. Avoid negativity, arguments, and self-promotion. Those get downvoted.
Post karma through SFW subreddits
If you are willing to share non-explicit photos, SFW subreddits are a great way to build post karma. Subreddits like r/selfie, r/freecompliments, r/dyke, r/shorthairedhotties, and many others are open to new accounts and do not have strict verification requirements.
If you prefer not to share photos, you can also build post karma by posting in text-based subreddits. Write a helpful post in a subreddit related to your interests. A well-written post in r/advice, r/lifehacks, or a hobby subreddit can earn decent karma.
For creators who are comfortable showing their face or body in SFW contexts, posting in selfie subreddits has an added benefit: it builds an audience on Reddit before you ever post NSFW content. Users who upvote your SFW posts will see your profile and may follow you, giving you a built-in audience when you start posting in NSFW subreddits.
What to avoid (and what gets you banned)
- Karma farming subreddits. Subreddits like r/FreeKarma are visible on your profile. Many NSFW subreddits check for this and will ban you if they see it. Use them only as a last resort.
- Buying karma. There are services that sell Reddit karma. Do not use them. Reddit bans bought karma accounts, and many NSFW subreddits can detect it.
- Posting the same comment everywhere. Copy-pasting the same comment in multiple subreddits is spam. It will get you downvoted and may get you banned.
- Posting your OnlyFans link during the karma-building phase. Do not mention OnlyFans, do not link to it, do not hint at it. Build karma first, then promote. Linking too early gets you banned from subreddits you will need later.
- Arguing or being negative. Controversial comments get downvoted. Keep it positive and helpful.
- Using a brand new account to post in NSFW subreddits immediately. Even if you find one that has no karma requirement, posting adult content from a brand new account looks like spam and will often get removed manually.
How much karma you actually need
The karma requirements vary by subreddit, but here are the general ranges:
- 100-200 comment karma: Enough for many smaller and medium-sized NSFW subreddits.
- 300-500 combined karma: Opens up most medium-to-large NSFW subreddits.
- 500+ combined karma: Enough for virtually all NSFW subreddits. Some of the largest may require 1000+, but those are rare.
Do not aim for 10,000 karma before you start promoting. You only need enough to get through the door. Aim for 300 combined karma and then start posting in the subreddits that accept that level. As you post and gain more karma from your NSFW content, you will naturally unlock more subreddits over time.
